ROCK TO THE RESCUE: HERITAGE ROCKERS PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO VICTIMS OF SEPTEMBER 11TH DISASTER WITH BENEFIT CONCERTS IN DALLAS AND ATLANTA

Announced To Perform At �Volunteers For America� Benefits
 
 
 (9-27-01 - Los Angeles) Legendary classic rockers including STYX, REO  Speedwagon, Bad Company, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, Eddie Money,  Survivor, John Waite, Edgar Winter, Grand Funk Railroad�s Mark Farner and  many more to be announced will perform at two �Volunteers For America�  benefit concerts.  The concerts are scheduled for Saturday, Oct 20th at  the HiFiBuys Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA and Sunday, October 21st  at the Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas, TX.
 
�I just couldn�t stand by without doing something to help all of the people whose lives have been destroyed by the terrible tragedies of September 11th,� said organizer and lead singer of Styx, Tommy Shaw.  �I just starting calling up all of my friends to see what we could do.  The response has been amazing and we expect to add many more artists to the
line up.�
 
�Right now I think it is so important for everyone to be able to participate in the healing process,� said lead singer of REO Speedwagon, Kevin Cronin.  �We are all feeling so many intense emotions that it�s imperative that we channel our energy into doing what we can to help heal ourselves and our country.�
 
�With everything that has happened, we are all feeling such a sense of profound loss and grief,� said Journey founder and lead guitarist Neal Schon. �We all just need to get out there and do whatever we can to help remember the heroes who have fallen and feel as though we are contributing to the rebuilding of lives and property that were destroyed on September 11th.�
 
The shows will also feature an �All Star� band comprised of Liberty Devitto from Billy�s Joel�s band on drums, Derek St. Holmes from Ted Nugent�s band on guitar, 38 Special�s Jeff Carlisi, and The Producers� Kyle Henderson on bass among others.
 
Proceeds will benefit The American Red Cross, New York Firefighters & Police and victim�s families of the Sept 11 tragedy. 
 
Tickets for the �Volunteers for America� benefits will go on sale Saturday, September 29th and are available through Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge by phone numbers.
