If you thought you could avoid hearing the duet between Elton John and Eminem by not tuning into the Grammy Awards last week, think again. A spokesperson for The Recording Academy said last week that they now plan to release the duet as a benefit single.
According to the Recording Academy spokesperson some of the proceeds from the single release of Stan performed live by Eminem and Elton John during the Grammy Awards last week will go to the MusiCares Foundation. The foundation was created in 1989 by the academy to aid musicians with health, human service and welfare services.
Various radio stations across the U.S. have already began airing the duet, which was recorded from a satellite broadcast by the Recording Academy. Also, according to press reports fans have already began swapping copies on Napster.
At press time Eminems label, Interscope
Records, has yet to confirm the commercial release of the single.
