On the very day that the Grammy Awards are being handed out for the best in music for last year, antiTainment (antiMUSICs illegitimate sister site) has announced the losers of the 2nd annual anti Awards for Music. The anti Awards are presented for the worst in various categories.
Sisqó dominated the anti Awards, losing in three categories including worst new artist and worst R&B song for Thong Song. Close behind, with two anti Awards each, was N Sync and U2. The boyband popstars, N Sync, nabbed the Worst Record of the Year award and Worst Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal with their song Bye Bye Bye. U2 lost out to 3 Doors Down by losing the most overrated songwriter award (Worst Song of the Year) for their radio happy tune, Beautiful Day.
The anti Awards poked further fun at the (mis)categorization of certain artists in the Grammys by handing out worst album awards in hard rock, metal and rock to Kid Rock, Marilyn Manson and No Doubt.
The big loser this year was Eminem who was dishonored with the Worst Album of the Year for his Marshall Mathers LP. The album received this award with the side note, It's a good Comedy album but we are supposed to be awarding music here!
For the 2nd edition of the anti Awards, antiTainment took various Grammy categories and nominees and replaced Best with Worst to show just how out of touch the awards ceremony has seemed to become in many fans eyes. They did however, stay partially true to their first edition (released in 2000) with various special categories including the following:
Momma's Boy Award
Here Today, What's was your name again? Tomorrow Award
The most likely to be mistaken for a poodle Award
Oh You're Just Jealous Award
antiTainment promises film and television
versions of the anti Awards to coincide with the Oscars and Emmy Awards
in the coming months.
