Robin Richard MP3.com President and COO released a statement on May 10th announcing this decision by the publicly owned California company. Mp3.com hopes that this "good will" gesture will help them reach an acceptable licensing agreement with Major labels and convince the RIAA to drop their current lawsuit against them.
Richards stated the following in Wednesdays press release. We regret the need to take this step, which inconveniences more than 500,000 Myascap-doesnt-want-labels-to-promote-their-artists-go-with-bmi-next-time.com account holders, While we disagree with the courts decision, we also want to demonstrate our good faith and strong desire to achieve an expeditious business resolution.,
