34 year old singer/songwriter has been a professional musician for over 23 years. Her professional career started with her first release at the age of 11. During her career, she has released a total of 14 albums, including work as a solo artist as well as with the Sugarcubes.
Now she has become a critically acclaimed actress. For her film debut she took on the role of Selma in the new feature film "Dancer in the Dark".
Here is the Synopsis of the film as presented in the official press release.
"Selma (Björk) is a Czech immigrant, a single mother working in a factory in rural America. Her salvation is her passion for music, specifically, the all-singing, all-dancing numbers found in classic Hollywood musicals.
"Selma harbours a sad secret: she is losing her eyesight and her son Gene stands to suffer the same fate if she cant put away enough money to secure him an operation. When a desperate neighbor falsely accuses Selma of stealing his savings, the drama of her life escalates to a tragic finale."
On June 22nd, Björk will be on hand to chat with fans about her music and new film. Fans can log on to the special site set up by ARTISTdirect now to submit their questions.
