Looks like the
Beatles and Led Zeppelin still have what it takes, even decades after their
breakups. Both bands dominated Rocknworld.com's Top 100 Songs of all time
poll. (Rocknworld.com is our sister site).
Led Zeppelin captured the Top Spot with Stairway to Heaven and had four more songs appear on the poll of over 300,000 music fans. The Beatles highest-ranking song was Revolution, which came in at No. 10. However, The Fab Four landed six more songs on the list. Following close behind was Metallica who captured the No. 3 spot with Enter Sandman and easily pulled in enough votes for 2 other songs to land in the Top 100.
Classic rock dominated the list with eight of the Top 10 songs having been released prior to 1981. When the final vota was tallied, over half of the songs that made the list came out before Ronald Reagan took office. Newer Artists like Limp Bizkit and Korn did manage to make the cut, placing at 92 and 89 respectively.
