Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder Sings At World Series Game
.
(hennemusic) Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder rocked Wrigley Field with a performance of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch at Game 5 of the 2016 World Series between the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. "Hey Chicago, look at this, look at you," Vedder told the crowd. "Wrigleyville is full, it's October 30 and there's baseball at Wrigley Field for the first time in history. I know we want to thank Theo [Epstein] and Tom [Ricketts] and Joe [Maddon] and the team and bringing the World Series to Wrigley Field 2016. "There's one guy in particular I want to sing my ass for and he's No. 3 behind the plate. He may retire but he'll never quit. Mr. David Ross, I want to belt this one out for you. It's his last game at Wrigley. Let's sing it for him. Let's sing it with Harry [Caray]." The Pearl Jam singer performed "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" alongside video of a version by the late legendary Cubs broadcast Harry Caray. Lifelong Cubs fan and frequent Wrigley Field attendee Vedder grew up in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, IL before the family moved to San Diego, CA in his teens.
