Gorillaz Reveals 'The Book of Russel'
. ![]() (Radio.com) The Gorillaz have been sharing the back stories of their cartoon characters with fans and followers in order to explain what each of the four members has been up to since Plastic Beach. So far, guitarist Noodle has gotten the narrative treatment, and now comes drummer Russel Hobb's turn. Russel's back story actually begins with his swim to Plastic Beach, where he ended up growing 60x his size thanks to polluted shrimp he consumed. Even though he united with bassist Murdoc Niccals, a pirate attack separated them and Russel fled the island with Noodle. Eventually, he ends up in North Korean, where the government treats him like a freak show and keeps him on display. Check out the unfolding of the full account here.
