Two Leon Russell Memorials Planned
. ![]() (Radio.com) Since Leon Russell's death, tributes have poured in from music luminaries and fans who admired the iconic musician's work and life. Two memorials have been planned to celebrate his contributions, Pollstar reports. The first will be a burial that will take place in Tennessee, where Russell lived at the time of his death. Another has been scheduled in his home state of Oklahoma. Elton John and Willie Nelson will serve as "honorary pallbearers," a testament to their friendship and professional admiration for Russell's talent. The Tennessee funeral will take place on Friday at Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet. The Tulsa, Oklahoma service will be held at Oral Roberts University's Mabee Center, which seats nearly 11,000.
