Singled Out: Aaron Paul's Electric Erotic
. ![]()
Former Worlds Apart frontman Aaron Paul is releasing his new album "Electric Erotic" and to celebrate we asked him to tell us the story behind the title track. Here is the story: I came up with the song title "Electric Erotic" about two years ago after I just completed recording my first solo album 'RAW'. I was literally burnt out of the writing and recording process. One of the producers I was wrapping up the project with asked "What do you want to call your next album?" I replied "OMG, I don't even want to think about that right now. Let me get over this one for now." I paused for a second and quickly blurted out "Electric Erotic" because I was considered a pop/dance recording artist. Dance music is an electronic music, and just to add a little spice to the mix, I threw on the erotic - meaning sexy dance music. And it struck a chord. That was a brilliant name for a song. And the name of an album. So fast forward two years later - I remembered I had this great title for the next project, but I still had to create a lead song with lyrics and melody for "Electric Erotic"! Many producers were also submitting various tracks for me to write, but none of them screamed "Electric Erotic" to me. One night I was chatting online to remixer friend of mine. He just had finished a new remix that included Madonna's old song called "Erotica" and he asked me to take a listen. Instantly, as his remix track played, I heard my "Electric Erotic" idea. His track was perfect. It had all the electronic sounds, commercial appeal and def screamed "Electric Erotic"! I asked what was his intentions with the track. He said nothing really he was just tinkering around to a stock music track that he had found online and decided to remix Madonna's "Erotica" vocals on it. I said, "OMG, I just have to have this track for this idea I have." I begged him to tell me where he found the track, or let me have it, and he said it was available online to anybody. Anyway it turns out that I could not use that particular track for legal reasons. But I insisted that he send the complete MP3 track, so at least I could write my own idea to it and then give it to one of my producers to build around another music track around my lyric and melody. I wanted the lyric to be very in your face and kinda playful, sexy, but clever and straight to the point without being vulgar. I wanted the lyrics to describe two people who have desire and uncontrollable, intense feelings for each other - hence the use of the words.. 'Electricity, Current, Explode, Voltage'. So I knew each verse section had to describe just that. For the chorus section and the main hook of the song, I wanted the vocal to be big and blown out. A full power vocal. But also to add that playful youthful naughtiness and innocence. So what better than to say "We're like two kids in a candy store". That lyric would perfectly describe the intensity of "Electric Erotic". They just can't get enough of each other. They just have to keep doing it again - in the morning, and again the afternoon! This love just keeps growing. Once I had all the elements I needed to bring "Electric Erotic" to life, I was satisfied that I had found my perfect "Electric Erotic" song and album title. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and watch the video right here!
