Singled Out: Camryn's Machines
.
Today, rising music star Camryn tells us about her latest single "Machines". At just 16-years-old she is turning heads with her style and musical approach. Here is the story: "Machines" was the first song I have done that felt like it was completely me. I feel like I have discovered who I am and what music I want to make. The last time I released music I had a bubblegum pop sound and since then I've been experimenting in the studio trying to figure out what I wanted. It wasn't until I started working on "Machines" that I felt like I was on the exact right path. Creating "Machines" was really fun, I was in the studio with my favorite producers Linney and Q, and they played me a track they had started. I remember thinking to myself, this is it. I dove into the song and wrote the lyrics with inspiration from my career and my journey thus far. "Machines" is special to me because it's a milestone. This song expresses a new side of me, my music, and it's the beginning of what I hope is world domination. Writing the lyrics was kind of tricky because I wanted to keep a machine-like element while also telling a story. Lines like "metal to skin, aluminum soul, you make the system overload" contain that 'machine' part but also explain a struggle, and help move the story along. I love how lyrics and music can be interpreted in so many different ways, because it makes it personal for whoever is listening. For me when I hear "Machines," I think of my determination and drive to succeed. To someone else, it may conjure up feelings of love and relationships. I wanted the chorus to be strong, so that no matter what the song means to you the chorus would make you feel empowered and like you can accomplish anything. The phrase "and we do it like machines" means that you are going to do something in an indestructible way and nothing is going to stop you because you ARE a machine. I was very meticulous about the production on the song. I think I sent it back 10 times saying "make the chorus bigger!" I really wanted to feel when the chorus hit and I wanted it to hit hard. Music makes me feel larger than life and I want to forever give my listeners that experience and desire to take over the world Who's with me?! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video here and learn more about Camryn right here!
