Kehlani Releases First Song Since Suicide Attempt
. ![]() (Radio.com) Kehlani has released her first new song since she attempted to take her own life in March. Titled "24/7" it's an honest look at the psychological troubles that led to her contemplate suicide. The song has a mellow feel about it, but the rhythms grow more emphatic on the chorus. It's a brave, bold song that strips away the masks artists often hide behind and gets real about an important topic. "It's ok to be not be ok/To dive in your pain/And it's alright to not be alright/To search for your light," Kehlani sings. The song details all the ways it's ok to stop pretending that everything is fine when inside it's not. While it's clearly a personal message about Kehlani's struggles with depression, it's also an important message about mental health in general. Considering the known statistics surrounding mental health in the U.S., as well as the fact that it commonly goes untreated, Kehlani's song raises attention about an issue that benefits from that spotlight.
