Singled Out: Piss-Off's Antisocialite
.
Piss-Off! just released their new new EP "Perfect is for Remixes" and to celebrate we asked Anika Trujillo and Daniel Borkan to tell us the story behind the track "Antisocialite". Here is the story: Early on we would meet at this crazy practice space called the sweatshop in Bushwick (Brooklyn). We would only book a hr or maybe two per session so every time we met up it was like "Hi! Ok start mashing buttons as fast as you can before they tell us we are out of time!" Antisocialite was one of our first songs and we proved to each other just how extreme we could be musically. When we did the drum track there was an existing beat already, we sped the bpm up and changed out some of the more house elements and kept the weird sounds. Basically remixed ourself; so it's got all these crazy texture in the layers but a gross oversimplification of proper song structure. For the synth, we started by just wanting to make a song where white noise was the lead - meaning all frequencies screeching at once with no melody. All the pops of noise sound like a fight in a boiler room, us vs the terminator, with steam shooting out from all directions as we run for our lives. The synth chords give the audience a chance to catch their breath but the sound is still so tense here nobody could possibly relax. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the EP right here!
