(hennemusic) Chris Cornell has released a stream of his cover of the 1966 Lorraine Ellison hit, "Stay With Me Baby", as featured on the soundtrack to the 1970s HBO music series Vinyl.

Ellison's original reached No. 11 in the U.S. Billboard R&B chart and number 64 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart back in the day before being covered by several artists including Bette Midler, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and Mary J. Blige, among others.

The Soundgarden frontman says his take is closer to a 1969 version by UK singer Terry Reid. "I was very honored to be asked to record a version of 'Stay With Me Baby' for Vinyl," Cornell tells Vulture. "I get to pay tribute to Terry Reid, whose version of the song has been a favorite of mine for many years, and be included on a great soundtrack with an amazing group of artists."
