(Radio.com) Blake Shelton released another track off his upcoming album If I'm Honest, and this one takes a religious turn compared to his past music. Titled "Savior's Shadow," it's a slow gospel tune that finds Shelton giving thanks to Jesus Christ.

"Though the devil tried to break me/ My sweet Jesus won't forsake me/ When I'm in my Savior's shadow/ Where I'm supposed to be/ When I'm in my Savior's shadow/ Who I'm supposed to be," Shelton sings on the chorus. It's a shorter song, coming in at under 3 minutes with slide guitar, sweet harmonies and a lighter melodic touch.

Shelton thanked his fans on Twitter for their support, writing, "Can't believe the response to saviors shadow Thank y'all.." According to songwriter Jessi Alexander, the idea was all Shelton's. But he needed help finishing it, and so Alexander and Jon Randall stepped in to pen the finished product back in August 2015. 'It's beautiful and moving and I can't wait for him to tell the story. It's almost his 'Why Me Lord' -- it's very deep to him and to us," he said, referencing Kris Kristofferson's religious song, "Why Me Lord" (via Taste of Country).

If I'm Honest will be released May 20th. Listen to "Savior's Shadow" here.
