(Radio.com) This week, Brett Eldredge releases his long-awaited second album, Illinois. The album is off to a great start, via the single "Lose My Mind," which is already a top ten country single. It's also a bit of a departure for the country singer, which is how he wanted it, as he recently told Radio.com.

"I wanted to release something that wasn't expected, that nobody's heard yet [from me]. Another side of me that's wacky, fun, soulful, bluesy." The title is inspired by the way you feel when you fall for that special someone.

"It's all about the way somebody can take control of your thoughts. When you're so in love with this person that I'm in this interview right now, and I can't stop thinking about this person. They're making me lose my mind, I feel like I'm going crazy."

He says the song was born out of a riff that he kept hearing in his head. "The groove was so infectious; I was laying in bed one night I'm kind of an insomniac. I just lay there and think. About songs, and what city I'm going to next. But I had this groove, and I went to the studio and I played it for the songwriters in there and it was like, 'Oh my gosh, we gotta do this.' And all of the sudden 'Lose My Mind' came out of this groove, we started talking about these girls and how they drive us crazy in a beautiful way, and 'Lose My Mind' came alive. It's only two minutes and thirty eight seconds long, and that's the part I love about it: it gets to the point, it's really fun, and by the end you say 'Gosh, what just happened, I want to hear that again.' And I've been fortunate, that's my fastest rising song yet." Read more here.
