Green Day Frontman Slams MTV VMAs
. Armstrong shared his disappointment online that the show didn't include any "young rock n roll" bands. Green Day was the last band that is considered rock to perform on the annual awards show when they took the VMA stage in 2012. The outspoken frontman took to Twitter on Sunday night after the broadcast with the following messages, "just watched VMAs. seriously @MTV not a single young rock n roll band?" He then added, "there r great up and coming rock bands headlining festivals AND on social media. what thee hell? - Billie Joe Armstrong (@BJAofficial) August 31, 2015."
