Demi Lovato Reveals Abusive Father Inspired New Song
. In one video about the album's eleventh song, titled "Father," Lovato opens up about her very personal, and very painful, relationship with her father. "I was very conflicted when he passed because he was abusive," Demi shared. "He was mean, but he wanted to be a good person. And he wanted to have his family, and when my mom married my stepdad, he still had this huge heart where he said, 'I'm so glad that he's taking care of you and doing the job that I wish I could do.'" Lovato believes it was her father's mental illness which contributed to the way he treated her, but music helped her work through her many emotions. "I wanted to write about it. I wanted to process it," she said. Read more and watch the video here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com. |
