Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen Credit Fans For Rock Hall Nomination

(hennemusic) Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen has issued a statement on the Rockford, IL band's nomination for the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The band were revealed as 2016 nominees on Thursday alongside Deep Purple, Yes, Steve Miller and The Cars, among others.

"Getting nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an honor for Cheap Trick," says Nielsen. "We owe it to our fans for keeping us working and relevant. Onward to 2016."

The band's first nomination comes after being eligible for entry since 2002, 25 years since the release of their first single or album. Formed in 1973, the group issued its self-titled debut and follow-up, "In Color", in 1977 and "Heaven Tonight" in 1978 before breaking into the mainstream with the 1979 live album, "At Budokan."
