Singled Out: Cage's Across the Sea of Madness
. This song was a crucial part of the ANCIENT EVIL storyline. The guitar players had most of the music to the song already composed when I came into the track. Normally we write all together but this one was mostly together. Since we were writing an epic horror concept story I had the feeling this was the one for this part of the story that took place on the high seas. I had envisioned that this song had a big ship on the sea with the classic lightning and heavy seas crashing vibe. The speed of it made it the perfect combination. We added this killer black metal voice section in the middle. That added the creepy vibe that was needed to make this song extra horrific. I think that the opening scream sets the tone for the thrashing that is to come. The intro plodding part was also kind of different from what we normally do and sets up the speed fest nicely. Once we had our meetings with the record label about which of the 14 songs we would choose to make the music video, although I had a different idea, they unanimously choose this song. It would be the first real music video we had ever done and it came out better than even I had imagined it. For those of you who have not seen it, check it out. It looks like we did a song for the movie ANCIENT EVIL movie and not the other way around! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video here and learn more about the album right here!
