What One Direction's Liam Payne Wanted To Say At Billboard Awards

. (Radio.com) On Sunday night, one of the most awkward moments of the Billboard Music Awards happened when One Direction's Liam Payne was abruptly cut off before he could deliver his acceptance speech for the group's Top Touring Artist award.

But Billboard attempted to rectify that after the ceremony when they asked Payne what he would have said. "I had my bit to say and, you know when you're going to do a speech and you compose yourself and get yourself in the zone?" Payne recalled. "I must have looked so ready on the mic, had the award in hand, ready to say my bit and then literally the music started. There was no countdown."

Ironically, Payne didn't have anything major planned for his speech. He was just planning on figuring it out as he went along. "I was gonna say thank you to�I can't really remember," he said. "But it was something along the lines of, 'Thank you everyone. We've had an amazing tour so far sort of thing and we're back on tour July 9 in San Diego so we'll see you there.' New songs. New vibe."
