'Straight Outta Compton' Author Writing George Jones Biopic

. (Radio.com) Some writers stick to their wheelhouse from project to project, writing stories in similar settings or time periods. Essentially, they write what they know. Others, as they say, have range, and the sort of reporting skills to make even the most far-flung times or places seem familiar, doing the leg work required to write about the unknown.

Alan Wenkus clearly is in the latter camp, going from penning a script about West Coast rap legends N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton, to a new film about George Jones, country legend.

The film will reportedly center around his rise to fame in the '50s through the '70s, including his substance abuse issues, brief marriage to Tammy Wynette, and his eventual nuptials with Nancy Jones, who helped get the songwriter clean. Read more here.
