The day we wrote "Stay At Home Soldier" was one I will never forget. It was myself, Billy Dawson, Chad Raymon, and Rob Bironas. Myself and the 3 boys met in the upstairs studio loft at Chad's ranch.

Rob played football for the Tennessee Titan's but had a furious passion for songwriting and got us all together to write this song. We weren't sure the exact angle we were taking at first, but we began talking about the state of our nation, our friends in the military and how we honor them, but often forget about their families. We forget that it's just as hard to stay behind as it is to leave.

Billy started riffing on the guitar and I started creating melody and line by line the song came in sequential order. When we found our hook, we knew we had something special. We had found something that needed to be discussed.

I want to see this country soar again, I think we all do. And as writers we think that starts by honoring those who have given up EVERYTHING for it, learning why they made that decision, and thanking them for being the fabric of our nation.

I say this often, but as songwriters we can't always write a big check to issues that matter. We can't always be there on the front lines to help, and we can't bring someone's loved one back to them. But what we can do is write a song. Whether it's to help them heal, help them understand, or to roll down the windows, feel the breeze and feel alive� that is our job. And that's why we felt this was a song that needed to be written.
