Run the Jewels SXSW Attack Was Over Allegedly Stolen Lyrics?
. (Radio.com) Earlier this week, Run the Jewels were assaulted by a seemingly random man who rushed the stage in the middle of their SXSW performance at the Spotify showcase. Details were shaky and all that was known of the incident was what could be seen in video clips posted to Instagram. Now some more details have come to light. One of the witnesses--Matt Sonzala, an independent promoter in Austin--spoke with Buzzfeed about the incident. His account revealed a couple things, one of which is that the police didn't arrest the attacker. 'After he was thrown out, I walked out and asked police working the line to get in if they planned on arresting the man who just attempted to assault the band onstage," he said. 'They come with me and we find him right around the corner from the venue--he's sitting on a stoop, skull open, bleeding down his face. Police talk to him, come back and say to me they can't arrest him based on my testimony alone." Sonzala also revealed that, through the police, he found out that the man claimed Run the Jewels owed him money and stole his lyrics. Read more here.
