Mac Miller Sued for Unauthorized Song Sample

(Radio.com) While many cried foul at the verdict that awarded a large sum of money to the family of Marvin Gaye after Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams created a song that sounded too similar to one of Gaye's, Mac Miller is the latest music star facing a copyright case. What is very difference about the accusations leveled at Mac Miller is they are not for a commercially released song. The track, "Therapy," was featured on the Miller 2014 mixtape Faces, meaning that Miller did not profit directly off the song. The accuser in the case is Aquarian Dream, whose song "Yesterday (Was So Nice Today)" is sampled in the song. (via Hot New Hip Hop) The '70s funk band is seeking a pretty steep $150,000 in the case.
