Run the Jewels Attacked At SXSW
. (Radio.com) Rap super-group Run the Jewels was attacked Monday (March 16) during a SXSW performance at the Spotify house in Austin, Texas. Details are still sketchy at best regarding the incident, but what we do know is that an unidentified man got on stage mid-performance and approached the pair. According to a video shot from behind the stage, the man appeared to be targeting rapper El-P, who had yet to realize the stage was being invaded. His partner in Run the Jewels, Killer Mike, intercepted the stage-crasher before he could get his hands on El-P while members of the band's crew quickly intervened and rushed the man off of the stage. A second video of the incident shows members of the audience confronting the stage invader, who is knocked to the ground by one of the RTJ crew members when it looks as though he is attempting to get back onto the stage. El-P himself downplayed the incident with a humorous message on Twitter. He tweeted, "thanks to everyone who watched us rock the @Spotify house! sorry for the brief interruption.- el-p (@therealelp) March 16, 2015" Watch video of the stage-crash moment and aftermath here.
