Singled Out: Kamchatka's To You
. This song 'To You' is about relationships and in this case my relationship with my girlfriend, but I guess we all go through the different stages when being in a relationship with someone for many years, the ups and downs, the good and the bad. My girlfriend and I have been together for 15 years and are still going strong. For me, it's therapy writing about things that happen in real life. I wrote the song at home by the kitchen table where I usually write my tunes, it's good to be close to the coffee maker machine ;) I always use my acoustic guitar with nylon strings when I write because if a riff is cool enough on that guitar I know that it will be super cool on my electric guitars together with the band. The first notes that came into my head was the intro and I called it King Crimson meets AC/DC on my recording device. The first version of 'To You' was a much more progressive thing and at least 2 minutes longer but when we recorded the album, we decided to boil the song down to the version that you hear now. We liked all the parts of the song but felt that the original idea was to long and not "snappy" enough. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
