The guitarists last performed the national anthem as part of their appearance at the 2015 X Games in Austin, Texas on Saturday, June 6. Metallica are currently on a break from the road after playing a series of festival dates in Europe this past month; the band's next scheduled show is at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 1.
