Courtney Love Was Almost Cast Unmade Batman Movie
. But, per a recent Hollywood Reporter story, that role was almost played by none other than Courtney Love in a proposed sequel to Joel Schumacher's 1997 Batman & Robin follow-up, which was to have been titled Batman Unchained. That film would have featured several of the villains from the past Schumacher and Tim Burton Batman films, including Danny DeVito as the Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face, Jim Carrey as the Riddler and Jack Nicholson's Joker. Harley Quinn was to be introduced in the Batman Unchained, as was Scarecrow, who was supposed to be played by Nicolas Cage. Let's all breath a sigh of relief that this movie didn't happen. However, with Batman and Robin, which starred George Clooney in the lead role, the Bat-franchise officially jumped the shark (the nipples on the costumes will never be unseen) and it wasn't until Christopher Nolan's classic 2005 Batman Begins that the series was respectably rebooted. But at the time the Schumacher sequel was being discussed, Love was just starting off her acting career, making a big splash and getting a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Milos Foreman's The People Vs.
