Slim Harpo Box Set Released
. Swamp blues icon Harpo, real name James Moore, left a catalogue that influenced a wide range of contemporary and later artists. He's probably best known for his track I'm A King Bee. He's been covered by Otis Redding, the Rolling Stones, The Who, the Yardbirds, The Kinks, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and many others. Hawkins plans to expand his sleeve notes into a full-length book, also called Buzzin' The Blues. He says: "I'd known about him only as a blues fan - I didn't know any more than anybody else about Slim the man. "I realised I could do the box set, and I should also write a longer, wider-ranging book, setting him in context with his contemporaries." Read more here.
