Apollo was Balboa's nemesis in Rocky and Rocky II but the pair became friends, working together in Rocky III and Rocky IV, before the character's death.

In Creed, Adonis heads back to Philadelphia to follow in his father's footsteps. He finds Balboa and convinces him to train. Phylicia Rashad rounds out the cast playing Mary Anne Creed.
