Kanye West's 'Only One' Video Inspired By His Daughter
. (Radio.com) Kanye West appeared on Ellen on Thursday (Jan. 29) to give her a sneak peek of his new video for "Only One," directed by Spike Jonze. The ballad features Paul McCartney and has Kanye singing in the voice of his mother Donda--who passed away in 2007--as she meets baby North and his wife, Kim Kardashian for the first time. The video for the first single off his next album looks like a home movie with shots of Kanye holding his little girl and smiling. We're guessing his claims of not smiling due to 18th century art don't apply when he's with his daughter. Kanye talked about marriage and fatherhood saying it helped him learn to lay off the ranting a bit more, which he thinks was kind of like him going through his "terrible twos." "I've learned how to shut up more," he said as the audience laughed. "I think I'm a better human being because of [Kim] and because of my daughter, and I have always someone to think about going home to. Something for me to not only to be brave for what I want to do for humanity, but also to be more protective of myself for my family, because there's things I've done in the past that were considered negative, but I was really jumping in front of the tank for other people, or for culture, in a way. So now, I always have to have that in my mind that I have a family that I have to protect, too." Read more and watch a snippet of the video for "Only One" here.
