Jason Aldean Talks Georgia Football
. (Radio.com) Country superstar Jason Aldean makes no bones about his status as a diehard Georgia boy, all the way down to his custom line of cowboy hats. So it's no surprise that Aldean's sports predilections lean towards all things Georgia. Moving to the capital of country music, Nashville, has affected his allegiances to some degree. "You know, when it comes to the NFL, I've never been over-the-top on any team," Aldean admits during an interview with Radio.com, revealing his preference for college football, the Georgia Bulldogs in particular. "I keep up with the (Atlanta) Falcons, because I'm from Georgia, and the Titans, (after) moving to Tennessee. I'm not really a diehard one way or the other for any team, but those are kind of the two teams that I really watch. "I would like to see the Falcons win a Super Bowl at some point, just the fact that they're from Georgia," he adds. "I don't know that they've ever won a Super Bowl (ed. note: while the Falcons made it to Super Bowl XXXIII in 1999, they lost to the Denver Broncos, 34-19), but it definitely hasn't been in my lifetime, that's for sure." When it comes to Aldean's favorite NFL players, he roots for guys with ties to the Georgia Bulldogs as they make their way in the professional ranks. "I like Matthew Stafford (of the Detroit Lions), a former Georgia quarterback, Knowshon Moreno, running back that actually played there with Stafford, he's with the (Miami) Dolphins now. I like to keep up with those guys. "Stafford's one of those guys," Aldean continues. "He was just in my opinion one of the best quarterbacks Georgia's had ever, and to watch him come out now, be the starting quarterback for Detroit. Him and Calvin Johnson up there, that's pretty fun to watch." When asked which of his own songs would make for a strong sports anthem, the singer selected a pair of tunes from two different albums that he thinks would fit the bill. "'Tattoos on This Town' for me I think is a really cool song that would kind of sum up that," Aldean explained. 'The Only Way I Know,' which is another song of mine, I think is a cool one. Just working hard and getting it done, I think that's pretty cool for a sports team, too.' Watch the full interview with Jason Aldean here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
