Diplo Talks Taylor Swift Backlash

. (Radio.com) Last November Diplo drew a lot of heat when he tweeted that "someone should make a Kickstarter to get Taylor Swift a booty," a comment which led Lorde to call out the producer's "tiny" privates. Months later, he's still paying for it.

In an interview with GQ, Diplo talked about life post-that Taylor Swift tweet, which has been full of online land mines. Specifically, Diplo has struggled with having to censor himself on Twitter.

"It sucks for me, because now I have to not be as crazy as I am on the internet," he said. "Which totally sucks, because it's not going to be fun anymore."

If it seems strange that a grown man who once made a comment as unfiltered as the Taylor Swift one would now feel the need to censor himself, the move actually comes out of fear of Taylor Swift fans' backlash. "But the repercussions are really bad. Like, Taylor Swift fans are really crazy," he continued. "They threatened to murder me and stuff. It's really bizarre, and disgusting. They're the worst people in the world."

Diplo's disdain for Swifties doesn't end there. He even went as far as to compare them to Gaga's Little Monsters. "And I'm a pretty big fan. But they're like 'I wish your kids had Down syndrome.' They're so evil," he said. "I dissed Lady Gaga before, and the gays were never even this mean. They're funny. These people are like mean-spirited, evil human beings. I'm not a politician. I shouldn't have to be under the microscope for people like that."

Then the interview gets weird. Diplo not only says he knows things about Swift that would cause controversy, but he goes on to say that he's living in fear. "She has like forty million Twitter fans. Forty million! Yeah. It's crazy. I'm a fan though. Her powers--she's big," he said. "She's strong, bro. Taylor Swift is very strategic with her friends and enemies. And I know lots of secrets. I can't divulge, but I know a lot of stuff about her. And she's definitely, there's definitely scary stuff going on. And I'm scared. I'm scared for my life."

Strangely that last quote where he says "I'm scared for my life" only appeared in the second iteration of the interview for the magazine's "19 Musicians That Matter" slideshow. It was first replaced with this: "Taylor Swift is very strategic with her friends and enemies," he said. "And I know lots of secrets. I can't divulge, but I know a lot of stuff about her. And I'm scared. I'm scared for my life."
