Harvey Mandel Six-Disc Set Coming This Month
. (The Blues) Harvey Mandel is about to release a six-disc set entitled Snake Box, containing his first five solo albums and a live set from 1968 (set for release on January 26th.) The guitar innovator began his career in 1966 as a member of Charlie Musselwhite's band before working with Canned Heat, the Rolling Stones, John Mayall and many others. By the time he returned to concentrate on his solo career in 1971 he'd acquired the nickname 'The Snake.' The 69-year-old launched his most recent studio album, Harvey Mandel And The Snake Crew, in 2006. It was followed by a live version three years later. Cleopatra Records say: "Mandel has earned copious praises, becoming one of the most influential and best-known guitar players of his era. Now's your chance to own a box set featuring the albums that started it all." Read more details here. The Blues Magazine is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
