Official 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Trailer Released
. (Radio.com) We'll cut to the chase: the good news is that, shortly after leaking on the web (the trailer in IMAX theaters was shot by fans and posted to YouTube), the official, HD trailer for Game of Thrones season 5 is now here. The good news? It's amazing. The bad news, for fans of the Game of Thrones book series, is that the next installment, which we expect will also be awesome, won't be out anytime soon. i09 reports that HarperCollins has confirmed that the sixth book in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series will not be published in 2015. But let's go back to the positive side: The trailer features a new cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" by TV on the Radio (according to Gigwise), so there's that. So what can we expect from the new season? Well, judging by the first thing we hear--"Nothing's more hateful than failing to protect the one you love"--as we see Jamie and Cersei Lannister, we can expect a bit of awkwardness (also hateful? Incest!). But there is the matter that their father Tywin was impaled whilst on the iron bowl (not to be confused with the Iron Throne) at the end of last season, killed by their brother Tyrion, who Jamie loves and Cersei hates (she later says, "That little monster is out there, somewhere, drawing breath!"). Littlefinger then tells Sansa Stark (who he's been hitting on, even though he had been in love with her late mom, also awkward) "Avenge them." So maybe she's about to put some hurt on House Frey, a few seasons after the infamous Red Wedding destroyed her world and blew our minds. More awkwardness: it looks like Margarey Tyrell will be marrying Tommen Lannister, younger brother of Joffrey, who, you'll recall died at the wedding when she tried to marry him. But we're looking forward to see who gets married next! Probably not Tyrion, who killed his ex-girlfriend last season (after she slept with his dad), and who we see falling out of a box looking rather unkempt. And probably not "You Know Nothing" Jon Snow who we see in battle. Is Daenerys Targaryen getting even closer to sitting on the Iron Throne? It looks that way; Varys says, "The Seven Kingdoms needs a ruler loved by millions with a powerful army and the right family name." Tyrion responds, "Good luck finding him." Watch the trailer here.
