(Radio.com) Stephen Colbert will come out swinging when The Late Show returns to CBS on September 8. But for continuity's sake, the new talk show will take up where his Colbert Report left off--with the same musical act--Kendrick Lamar.

Today at the industry's Television Critics Association press tour Colbert shed just a small beam of light on what fans can expect from the inaugural episode.

The host confirmed that George Clooney will be the first guest on the show "because he's a brilliant actor and a great director and he cares about the world." Find out who he selected as his music director here.
