(Radio.com) While Pearl Jam played a show in Detroit last Thursday night (Oct. 16), frontman Eddie Vedder took a moment to dedicate a thought and a song to Isaiah "Ikey" Owens, the Mars Volta and Jack White band musician whose untimely death was announced on Oct. 14.

"We send our heart out to (Jack White) and his band," Billboard reports Vedder said from the stage. "The only thing we can do is try to take energy here (at the concert) so we can remember (Owens) fondly." They then played the song "Light Years" in his honor.

According to The Detroit News, it was one of many shoutouts by Vedder during the 170-minute concert - including Dennis Rodman, former Detroit Red Wing Chris Chelios, Mudhoney bassist Matt Lukin, and John Lennon, whose 74th birthday was the previous week.

There were also musical references to Detroit built into the set, including partial performances of the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog," Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold," the MC5's "Kick Out the Jams" and Kiss' "Detroit Rock City." Watch video of the performance and read more here.
