Makonnen's verse finds him recounting lost loves in states around the country. "Hanging out in Oakland," he raps, "where your friend got shot on the corner."

From there we're off to Seattle, to LA to Reno, Arizona. Oops, he meant Nevada. "I been drinking these things from the bottle," he admits.
"I can't remember."

Makonnen's voice doesn't follow any known law of rhythm or pitch. Like his lyrics, it feels natural and improvised, like a hummingbird darting around the register.
