Billy Idol Guests On CBS Sunday Morning
. Due October 7, the autobiography delivers a brutally honest account of Idol's journey to fame - from his early days as frontman of the pioneering UK punk band Generation X to his international solo career. "It's taking the best of punk rock, the best of rock 'n' roll -- you're taking the best of everything and somehow cross-pollinating it," Idol tells CBS Sunday Morning about his sound. "So you have a bastard child, really, and the bastard child is my music." Idol will appear on a book-signing tour to launch the project; he will host in-store autograph sessions in New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles and Tempe, Arizona in the first week of the book's release. Two weeks after the book's release, Idol will issue his first new album in almost a decade, "Kings & Queens Of The Underground."
