The Velvet Underground Announce Massive 4th Anniversary Release
. Spanning six CDs, 65 songs, liner notes by stalwart Rolling Stone editor David Fricke, two discs of live recordings, mono and stereo mixes of the album and the original pressing, the package celebrates the landmark release in style. Long-time VU fans will likely be most interested in the previously unreleased album, which was recorded as a means to get out of their record contract with MGM. The album includes 10 previously unreleased mixes of tracks and four that appeared scattered on later releases. It will be available for purchase on November 24 via Polydor/UMe.
