Nirvana Video From Rock Hall HBO Special Released
. The three-hour broadcast will feature highlights of the April 10 event from New York City, which saw Nirvana, KISS, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, and The E Street Band all honored with inductions into the Rock Hall. As for Nirvana, the Seattle band entered the Hall in their first year of eligibility, which is 25 years after the debut recording by an artist; in their case, it was based on the 1989 release of "Bleach." Nirvana closed out the evening with a raucous set as they were joined by a host of female singers for their induction performance. Joan Jett opened the program with a searing rendition of the band's signature tune, "Smells Like Teen Spirit"; Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth fame followed on "Aneurysm"; St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark) performed "Lithium", and New Zealand pop sensation Lorde closed out the event with a version of "All Apologies." A planned all-star jam on the AC/DC classic, "Highway To Hell", was scrapped due to the length of the live event, which ran more than 5 hours, including an extended set by The E Street Band.
