Katy Perry To Be Cosmo's First Global Cover Girl

. (Radio.com) Cosmopolitan magazine announced that Katy Perry will be its first global cover girl. The issue hits news stands on June 3 and will feature different cover photos for magazines spanning across 62 editions of Cosmopolitan, including the U.S. flagship mag.

"Katy's music and attitude have universal appeal to young women everywhere," said Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief, Cosmopolitan. "She crosses all cultural boundaries. Her music is soulful and empowering in equal measure. She's the first Cosmo global icon."

Hearst Magazines, the corporate owner of Cosmopolitan, have toyed with the concept of global concept previously in their Harper's Bazaar magazine. In October of 2012, Harper's named Carine Roitfeld, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue France and muse to Tom Ford, its global fashion director. In her role, Roitfeld creates global fashion spreads that run across all 26 international editions of Harper's for multiple issues a year. More including photos.
