(Radio.com) More than 150 new words and definitions were added to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary 2014 edition. Among the notable pop-culture terms officially added to the language are dubstep, which will inevitably infuriate those who can't stand the genre, Auto-Tune, fangirl and, possibly the country's most widely used new term, selfie. (The Chainsmokers must be giggling).

Other words that will soon no longer produce a squiggly red underscore when typed include social networking, paywall, hot spot and hashtag, proving that we are now officially one with the internet.

"So many of these new words show the impact of online connectivity to our lives and livelihoods," explained Peter Sokolowski, editor-at-large for Merriam-Webster, in a press release. "Tweep, selfie, and hashtag refer to the ways we communicate and share as individuals. Words like crowdfunding, gamification, and big data show that the Internet has changed business in profound ways."

One new addition to the dictionary that should put a smile on MTV show's creators' faces is catfish, referring to "a person who sets up a false personal profile on a social networking site for fraudulent or deceptive purposes."

"Never in a thousand years could we have imagined what a phenomenon Catfish would become, ' said show creators Ariel Schulman, Henry Joost and Nev Schulman. "Seeing this new definition in Merriam-Webster's dictionary is not only an honor for us, it is a reflection of how our experience in the film has now become a universal one, shared by people all over the world. It has been an incredible journey. A special thanks to Angela Wesselman-Pierce and Vince Pierce for enlightening us to the original myth of the Catfish." more on this story
