The record marks the return of original vocalist Craig Owens after 2010's Illuminaudio was fronted by Brandon Bolmer. Co-founding drummer Derrick Frost is also back in the fold.

Keyboardist Bradley Bell last year said of Owens' return: "He's challenging himself to sing in different ways. He's been using his actual falsetto instead of screaming high notes, just to bring it to a new dimension. He's even singing lower on a lot of stuff than he has in the past."
