Beastie Boys Reach Settlement With GoldieBlox Over 'Girls' Lawsuit

. (Radio.com) The Beastie Boys have finally reached a settlement in their ongoing case over copyright infringement with the toy manufacturer GoldieBlox. Tuesday (March 18), Rolling Stone reports that the Beastie Boys have settled with GoldieBlox for an undisclosed amount over the toy company's use of their song "Girls" in a parody video ad.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, a spokesperson said that the settlement "includes (a) the issuance of an apology by GoldieBlox, which will be posted on GoldieBlox's website, and (b) a payment by GoldieBlox, based on a percentage of its revenues, to one or more charities selected by Beastie Boys that support science, technology, engineering and mathematics education for girls."

In December, the Beastie Boys sued GoldieBlox over the use of their 1987 single "Girls," which was retooled into a girl power anthem commercial that encouraged young girls to have fun with science and engineering. Some accused GoldieBlox of using the song to drum up controversy. more on this story
