Against Me! Release Brutal Video for "Black Me Out"
. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace road-tested the track in front of audiences during her solo tour and had been toying with the song as far back as late 2012. Performed with only an acoustic guitar, lyrics like "I want to p-s on the walls of your house" teetered on touching. In stark contrast, the electric guitars and rated-R graphics of the video give the song a far darker, more sinister feel, clearing way for the listener to hear and see the pain Grace must have endured as a youth. In order to achieve the hard-hitting sound on Transgender Dysphoria Blues, Grace told Radio.com they had a very specific target when the band went into the studio, explaining that "sonically, the approach was a little different in wanting to make a more stripped-down record and a more aggressive-sounding record."
