Singled Out: You Me at Six's 'Cold Night'
. 'Cold Night' is a track off our 4th studio album, Cavalier Youth, which in particular was a very difficult song to wrap up. Max our guitarist had the verse riff idea for around a year until we eventually went to a practice space to begin writing the record. 'Cold Night' from the moment we began writing it as a band was a headache, the problem child of the record. We had a first idea that we absolutely loved but could not write a chorus we felt did it justice. Fast forward six months to when we began pre production in Los Angeles and we still don't really have a chorus. It was slowly but surely becoming a song we were going to shelf and move on from. We'd never done anything like that, so at first it was difficult to accept this sound as a youmeatsix sound, but I think this method and way of thinking ultimately set a new precedent for the record as a whole, we would try anything and everything on every song, regardless if it initially sounded like 'us' or not. It was pretty liberating, and moving forward definitely helped shaped this record.' Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
