Katy Perry Dethrones Mariah Carey On Pop Airwaves

Katy Perry has set a new record on the Billboard's Pop Songs chart, topping a record previously held by Mariah Carey for the most weeks at No. 1 on the chart.

Perry broke the record after her latest single "Dark Horse" topped the chart for a fourth week. She has now surpassed Mariah Carey's previous record of 45 weeks during her career at the top of Billboard's Pop Songs chart.

That particular chart logs airplay, not actual sales and Perry has reached the top a total of 11 times, the same number of times as Rhianna, but Perry has sustained the No. 1 spot longer for a new total of 46 weeks compared to Rhianna's 32.
