He wrote, "I may not be able to come back again. I've been coming here for 40 years, since before some of you were born. It's the best place I've ever played. Thank you for having me."

In 2013 the then-68-year-old celebrated his 50th year as a professional musician, but admitted he was considering ending his touring career when he turned 70 - even though he still enjoyed playing live.
